iBookshelf App Reviews

I have used iBookshelf for years and have found it to be the best such system available--that is, until I added the latest update. It is a total mess now. The many problems include such things as: the ISBN scan rarely works, the iPad keyboard covers up the entry screen, and when I go into my photo gallery to add a cover only a truncated screen remains. Overall, it has become so much of a nuisance to use the system that Im not willing to waste time on it. When I went to the app support website to look for information, it was such a hodgepodge of information for combined apps that I could not discover where to ask for help. So is this a review or a slam? If they fix the problems that have resulted from the update I will return to loving it. Until then, it takes more time to use it than I have to give. Please, please, correct the problems, or let me go back to he earlier version.

I just wanted an app to put my books in a database. Entering with the barcode scanner works 75% of the time but on older books with no barcodes the title/author search doesnt work at all. The cover might come up different as well and the look up cover function never shows any results. This app should be free for the amount of bugs and hassle

This was an outstanding app until you had to fix it. It does not work as it did and that was pretty darn good. Now, it is garbage! What is this love affair with Bucher on the author line? The Title - Author Search finds the book and the CORRECT author and a cover photo; however, when saved, Bucher appears dropping this app like a bad habit!as the author. In some cases, the saved file shows unavailable for the cover art; yet, there it was before the import. Also, the import cant find books that it should find if the app is going to be of any value, which, at present, it is not. Bottom line, your meddling turned a very good and useful app into a frustrating and nearly useless database. Im currently searching the App Store for a replacement because Im dropping this app like a bad habit. Enough is enough.

I am a teacher and this is really great. So helpful to keep track of my library. However, it can be glitchy and the scanner is not reliable.. Using manual entry is ok just much more time consuming. Overall good just needs some adjusting.

Used to work in iPad version. Now it doesnt work at all. Can scroll thru book covers, but cannot bring up the main screen or menu, and so cannot enter any new data. Has become worthless and should be withdrawn.

Ive been using this app for several years without too many issues. However, I cant manually add books by name or author. Please fix.

I love this app.....I have over 4,000 books categorized in this app.....but in the last couple of month when I enter a book and then go to add a cover pic the search always comes up with nothing.....it doesnt matter what book I enter its always the same.....can something be done about this please

Used to love this app but its a mess now... Cannot get the search to work, nothing more frustrating. Crap..

I have used iBookshelf for several years and have a very large book database. Over time I have had problems but unlike many other apps, my questions about iBookshelf have been responded to quickly and have been resolved. Its a wonderful app with great support.

Since last update, there is a problem when inputting titles. I select a title to add to my bookshelf, and it brings in a different book. It appears that it takes the book next to the one you select.

one that will fix the duplication of books and having to reboot the app to get them off. one that stops giving me a blank book after saving a new book. so many more but who has time to write a book. oy and dont get me started with the handy popup tips every time i open the app. already read them all a few time and cant find a way to disable them. maybe deleting the app will help

Ok, I waited for weeks for the update to correct all the problems. When I select the book and author I choose it comes back with: 1) still keeps changing author to Bucher 2) still keeps changing the title to another book 3)sometimes the title comes back in a foreign language AND still have to type authors first, last I have reset shut down and nothing corrects. I think they forgot to do the update!!!

I spent 2 hours scanning/loading 20 books. It said it was searching 15 databases, but still it couldnt find title/information on VERY common books. I could have researched and hand-written a database quicker. It never did find 10 books.

I was looking for an app to hold all of my book titles. It was a toss up btw this app and another (wish I could remember the other). I liked them both and honestly the other better for one reason and it was layout of screen. This app won because of the search engines nine out of ten times you scan a barcode and it finds your book. I got use to the layout of this app and very happy with it. One other thing deleting is not friendly and maybe it should be that way but I also have to remember how to delete instead of sliding or pressing on an icon. Hope this review is helpful.

I like the many features of this app but when I input a new book it cant find any info, which is the point of saving books I want to read.

I cant always remember which books I have already read and this app is great for that. The barcode scan works great and 99% of the time it finds the book. Manually entering a new book, which I have to do for ebooks, is ok except it never finds the cover anymore. It used to find the cover a lot but in this new version it never finds a cover when searching by title and author. I have to choose the camera option and use my iPhone to take a picture of my iPad screen with the cover - first page of the ebook. That works ok but I wish the search by title author would get fixed.

This app is my absolute favorite! Ive been searching for a way to catalog and organize my library and no program I tried has done as well as this app! I would love to see it sorted my series but that is minor compared to the awesomness that this app already has! Keep up the good work!

Im not sure whats up. The app doesnt look the same as pictures. When I went to YouTube video for help it definitely didnt look like the same app. Importing results in nothing but error messages or crashes. Its way to simplistic for all the features it advertises. It doesnt find any cover art for manually added books. It doesnt find any books at all if I try and do searches from title or author. I wish Id tried the lite version first, I definitely wouldnt have paid for this.

Mostly, Ive had no problems with this app since Ive installed it. Being the bookworm I am, Ive always kept a log of the books Ive read...and now I have a fun and easy data base to store it in!

I used the app to catalog my collection of approximately 500 books. Its definitely worth the 2 dollars. I would actually pay more, especially if the developers were willing to address some minor glitches (See below). The app is linked to the ISBN catalog and you can import info either via barcode scan or entering the ISBN. Older books dont have an ISBN number though, and the title/author look-up does not always work, so for those manual entry is best. All-in-all, its a great app, especially for the low price. Its not perfect, but its better than the other library cataloging apps I have tried. Also, it doesnt take up a lot of memory on your phone, which I was worried about.
